NZQA Rating
The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has rated UC International College (UCIC) as a Category 1 provider in New Zealand. UCIC has been awarded ‘Highly Confident’ in Educational Performance and ‘Highly Confident’ in Capability in Self-Assessment. This is the highest possible rating that can be awarded and is an endorsement of the excellent learning and teaching environment that UCIC strives to provide for its international students.

As a Foundation Studies student you will develop your English language and study skills as well as gain an introduction to subjects in your chosen academic field.
UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate will pathway students to the first year of their University of Canterbury undergraduate degree.* Students will study 8 courses over the course of 2 semesters. Courses are carefully selected and will depend on a students intended programme of study at UC.
*Please note that entrance to a small number of UC degree programmes may be subject to additional entrance criteria such as Grade Point Average. The experienced UCIC admissions team will advise students if this is the case when issuing offer letters to the UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate and will assist students with their queries on the process for entrance to these programmes.

Accommodation options for UC International College students (UCIC)
Accommodation can be arranged for students in a safe and secure study environment.
Halls of residence
The UC Accommodation Student Village, managed by Campus Living Villages Pty Limited (CLV), offers accommodation specifically tailored to your needs. If you are coming to UC to complete a Foundation Studies (FS) course or for the University Transfer Programme (UTP), accommodation can be arranged for February, June or October starts for a minimum of two UCIC semesters. This is the easiest and recommended option as your accommodation can be arranged before you arrive. Regular events and activities are arranged for residents and the friendly staff are available to help and support you at any time.
Self-catered apartments
Ilam Apartments offers you independent apartment-style living with the bonus of living on-campus in a supportive community and are ideal for individual students over 18 years of age. You will have your own fully-furnished room and share a kitchen, bathroom, living and laundry facilities. The apartments are home to students of all ages, at all levels of study, and from all over the world. Accommodation is offered in a Hinau 4/5-bedroom apartment.
Homestay and private board
Homestay or private board is when a student lives with a local family in the family’s home.
